The
Ancient Jars of Provence
This pottery was made in the village
of Biot near the port of Antibes. These jars were used to transport
almonds, soap, olive oil and figs throughout the Mediterranean.
Our collection of "jarres provencales" includes 17th and
18th as well as early 19th century pieces. Some are very large and
others are table top size. We also have several very rare jars that
have the bright green glaze cascading down their exteriors. |
