"Our History"

The Finest Garden Emporium in the United States

A Garden of Distinction is said to be the finest garden emporium in the United States. In 1983 the owners founded Designer's Choice at the Seattle Design Center and in 1996 they changed focus and opened A Garden of Distinction. During worldwide travels the owners have found so many "must buy"pieces that the first store overflowed. Now these treasures fill the 10,000 square foot showroom

A great feature of this showroom is its "set design" approach to display. The widely acclaimed layout of the emporium features a thirty foot arbor with theatrical lights cascading images of leaves onto the pathway. Our indoor water wall and pool and water gently falling off of classic Greek columns provides a soothing sound for all who enter. The pool provides a setting for our many water garden features. Around every corner and behind every obelisk is another well designed vignette to feast your eyes upon.

The biggest challenge we face in our showroom/museum/retail showroom is maintaining the "wow" factor for our visitors and customers.

We have been featured in these magazines: Tradition Home, European Homes & Gardens, Metropolitan Home, Sunset, Northwest Home & Garden and Seattle Magazine

Some of the treasures that await you:

  • Seventy-five pieces of galvanized French barn and household items for planters or decoration
  • One hundred pieces of old French Enamel ware
  • Fifty pieces of the old jars of Provence--the yellow and green pots made very collectible by Pierre Deux
  • The finest custom garden houses, tool sheds, potting tables and pergola
  • Three hundred high fired winter hardy pot, planters and containers
  • Antique Southeast Asian storage jars and Martaban jars
